Record highs, record cash

Stocks closed near record highs this week and the VIX sat at about 15 — roughly as calm as the tape gets. Yet beneath the surface, Buffett is holding a record cash pile and far more names are stretched down than up. Here's the market's temperature right now, built from the Oxinion Global 500 — market context and education, not advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

1 · Market temperature

🌡️ A calm, middle-of-the-road market

One way to read "how stretched is the market" is RSI — a 0–100 gauge of how far and fast a stock has moved. Of the 494 names we track, the vast majority sit in the neutral zone, and the average RSI is 46.6 — almost dead center.

Stretched down = RSI < 30, stretched up = RSI > 70. A high or low RSI describes how far price has moved — it does not say what happens next.

2 · The Buffett chart

💰 Buffett is holding more cash than he almost ever has

A piece of investing history worth knowing: Berkshire Hathaway's cash-and-T-bills now sit at 31.7% of total assets — well above Buffett's own 25-year average of 19.9%. Buffett has long framed cash as "dry powder" for downturns. We share the chart as context on how one famous investor thinks about cash — not as a view on what you should do.

3 · Stretched to the downside

📉 34 large caps have sold off hard

These names carry the lowest RSI in the index — price has fallen far and fast. That is a description of what already happened, not a signal to buy the dip; stocks can stay "oversold" for a long time. A few recognizable examples:

CompanyPriceRSI (14)
CTVA$14.469.4
PCAR$106.8517.8
RTX$180.2819.2
GD$326.5421.2
PEP$123.6321.5
O$53.3521.7
CMCSA$20.9223.1

4 · Stretched to the upside

🔥 Only 12 names look stretched up

The hot list is thin — a sign this isn't an everything-rally. These names have run furthest, fastest. Same caveat in reverse: a high RSI is not a signal to sell.

CompanyPriceRSI (14)
WBD$30.9776.2
MPC$442.3674.9
SNPS$502.5574.7
PBR$24.0074.0
VLO$424.1271.8

RSI(14), end-of-day. Dot shows position on a 0–100 scale (right = overbought). Shown as market color, not a sell list.

The takeaway

💡 Patient market, patient Buffett

Put it together and the read is neutral, not frothy: average RSI near the middle, three times as many stretched-down names as stretched-up, and the neutral bucket dwarfing both. Meanwhile the most famous investor alive is sitting on a record cash pile. That's the market's temperature this week — context to think with, not a to-do list.
